King of Kings

This week we celebrated Rosh Hashanah, one of the High Holy Days on the Jewish calendar.  Rosh Hashanah is a time to remember God's Kingship and His eternal reign over the earth.  It's also the beginning of a period of reflection for 10 days...a searching of one's own heart...and forgiveness.

The famous Rosh Hashanah story is found in Genesis when Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac on an altar.  Just before slaying his own son, a ram was seen caught in a thicket, and that ram became the sacrifice.

It's fun celebrating so many different kinds of holidays in Ethiopia.  It really helps us remember how much God loves the world...how every person is important...and how a life living for God and others is what it's all about.
